David Ashley: Financial Planner
David joined Altorfer in November 2013 as a Financial Adviser. His career spans thirty years in Financial Services, and includes working in the City of London Bond and Money Markets, before becoming a Financial Adviser in 1991. He has worked for major institutions including Lloyds Bank, Bradford and Bingley and HSBC, in addition to a period of working overseas as an IFA in Prague and Moscow. He is Diploma qualified, and is currently studying for Chartered Financial Planner status.
“Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my wife Sarah and our cat, Smokey. We enjoy visits to theatres, concerts and restaurants, and finding new places at home and abroad to explore and experience. ”
Louisa Bracey: Director
Louisa joined Altorfer in June 2011 as a trainee paraplanner and in 2014 rose to the position of Head Paraplanner. Louisa plays an active role alongside Altorfer’s Investment Management Committee and was promoted to the Board of Directors in January 2018. Prior to joining Altorfer, she spent seven years with St James’s Place. Louisa is a member of the Personal Finance Society and holds the CII Level 4 Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning.
“Having spent a number of years working and travelling overseas, I still really enjoy visiting and exploring new countries. I enjoy going to the gym or reading a good suspense novel. I am currently studying for my Certificate in Discretionary Investment Management.”
Gemma Dixon: Administrator
Gemma joined the company in December 2016, supporting our Administration function. Gemma is AAT part qualified and has worked in Finance Departments across various sectors during her career, both here in the UK and overseas.
She says: “I had a wonderful life before my babies arrived, travelling, socialising, buying shoes every week, but now as a new mum, my life has exceeded all expectations. I enjoy a work/home life split equal enough to keep my sanity, play dates with young and old, and the acceptance of flip-flops!”
Mohamed Faamy: Trainee Financial Planner
Mohamed joined us in September 2018 as a trainee adviser. He has over 17 years’ experience in the Financial Services industry having previously worked for Pearl Assurance, Allied Dunbar and Santander UK (formerly Abbey National plc). Mohamed, has a wide experience in Financial Planning and Mortgages. He completed his Law Degree at University of Hertfordshire and Legal Practice Course (Post-grad) at BPP Law school. He holds the Level 4 Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning and Ce-Map.
“I am enjoying my new position at Altorfer as I like its work ethic. I am passionate about cricket and enjoy playing and watching test matches. I love spending time with my family, especially my two adorable children. I try to lead my life with principles and good ethics, as I always remember my father saying “Character is what you are in the dark!”
Sabrina Leslie-Williams: Paraplanner
Sabrina joined Altorfer in May 2013 and moved to our paraplanner team at the end of 2016. She has a degree in Business Administration and holds the Investment Management Certificate. Sabrina has spent most of her career in the Financial Services Sector, her last position was with a major city fund management group. She is currently studying towards her Diploma in Financial Planning.
“After working in the city for a number of years, working for Altorfer gives me the right work life balance I need to spend more time with my young family. In my spare time I like to read, go for long walks with my two boys and go abroad on nice holidays.”
Gill Lovelace: Paraplanner
Gill joined the company in April 2006 as part of the adviser support team. Gill has had many years of experience in Financial Services, before returning to employment after having a family.
In addition to the FP1, 2 and 3 Financial Planning qualifications, Gill has passed the R01 and R02 papers, and has the Certificate in Life and Pensions.
“I have now completed over 12 years with Altorfer and still very much enjoy working for the company. The company and staff are supportive in many ways and it has a great atmosphere. I am looking forward to working here for another 12 years! My three girls are now teenagers off doing their own thing and I now enjoy a bit of spare time to myself, (when I am not being a taxi service). I am looking forward to the future and hope to do more travelling.”
Kay Martinez: Trainee Administrator
Kay joined Altorfer in October 2018 as an administrator. She has worked in the insurance industry for 28 years in a reinsurance claims capacity, before moving to claims operations management, where she remained for the last 15 years.
“I enjoy my work/home life balance which allows me to spend time with my two children (usually as a taxi service to scouts or dancing/gymnastics/drama lessons). Any spare time I have I like to socialise with friends or to go running to try and keep fit.”
Sonia Rivas: Paraplanner
Sonia joined the company in February 2015. She is a graduate of the University of Vigo, Spain, and has worked in UK financial services for 9 years.
“I am a keen runner and in my spare time I like going for long runs around Epping Forest. I also enjoy live music, going to the gym and going back to sunny Spain every opportunity I have.”
Roger Taylor: Non-Executive Chairman
Roger has degrees from Cambridge University and the University of Victoria, Wellington, NZ. He spent sixteen years abroad working variously as a teacher, carpenter, seaman and classical musician.
“I have always believed in keeping a good balance between work and leisure. Away from Altorfer, I have developed an alternative career as a single-handed ocean sailor and author.”
Daniel Wackett: Managing Director, Lead Fund Manager
Daniel joined Altorfer in 1996, having spent 10 years in advisory positions with both Lloyds Bank and Midland Bank. Having joined the Board in May 2011, Daniel took on management responsibilities in December 2014 becoming Managing Director in May 2015. At this time, Roger became Non-Executive Chairman. Daniel holds the Certified Financial Planner qualification, the Investment Management Certificate, Advanced Financial Planning Certificate and specialist qualifications in Equity Release and Long Term Care.
He says: “Louise and I are still working on refurbishing our new home. We have two sons who are both scouts so also spend time taking them to weekly meetings, camps and other activities. I also enjoy cycling; bowls, both on the green in the warmer months and short mat throughout the year; visiting National Trust properties with Louise and relaxing at home with a good book.””
Helen Wake: Director
Helen studied business and finance at college and law at the University of Hertfordshire. She has been a Registered Advisor with the FCA since 2005, and has attained the CII Diploma in Financial Planning. Helen was promoted to the Board in May 2015, and appointed as Company Secretary in January 2018. In line with her role as Compliance oversight she has so far passed the CII J07 exam Supervision in a regulated environment.
“My biggest project at the moment outside of work is the refurbishment and improvement of my home. We moved in a few years back and it needed a complete overhaul. My other passions are Victorian and Georgian architecture and clothing, refreshing walks in the countryside, and being a bit of an eco-warrior.”
Lynn Webb: Head of Administration
Lynn spent 11 years with the Bank of England before joining Abbey National plc for a further 19 years. She has now been with Altorfer for over sixteen years.
“When I am not working my hobbies include travel, going to the theatre and golf, which I never thought would be for me, but I enjoy every minute (even on the bad days!)”
Rita Zanella: Paraplanner
Rita joined the company in September 2013 as a paraplanner, after spending three and a half years in a City based financial services firm. Rita has over ten years of experience within the Financial Sector
Rita has a BA (Hons) in Literature with Languages from the University of Hertfordshire, holds the Financial Planning Certificate, and has passed Mortgage Advice and Group Risk exams. She is currently studying for the Diploma in Financial Planning.
“I love to travel and have spent over a year travelling the world to places including Australia and New Zealand. I take every opportunity to experience and explore new countries and their cultures and spend my spare time keeping fit and enjoying time with my family and friends.”
